Ms Harris replaced Joe Biden as the Democratic nominee. Her mother was an endocrinologist born in India; her father is an economist born in Jamaica. She was elected as the state’s attorney-general in 2010. Her skills came to sight after she came to washingtom, first as a senator in 2017.  Her presidential run in 2020 crashed badly. As vice-president she is tied to the Biden administration’s record .

Mr Trump’s extraordinary campaign follows his no less remarkable term as America’s 45th president, which concluded shortly after his supporters staged a violent attack on the Capitol.

Process of United States presidential election

The presidential election takes place on 5th November . Here the candidate with most votes won’t be the winner.

The Americans take part in November’s presidential election, most of them will cast a vote for either Democrat Kamala Harris or Republican Donald Trump.

Through this they are going to make up a group of officials who will represent Ms Harris or Mr Trump in the electoral college. Here “college” simply refers to group of people having shared task , their job is to choose president and vice-president. They meets every four years  after election.
There are 538 electorals in total. Each elector represents one electoral vote and a candidate needs to gain a majority of the votes – 270 or more to win the presidency.

If there is a tie between the candidates the House of Representatives, the lower house of US lawmakers , will then vote to elect the president.

According to David Axelrod (Democratic strategist), Trump is a sure-shot winner in the US Polls 2024, if the elections were held today itself.

Axelrod’s message to the Democrats: Keep patience
This was a clear message to those Democrats who are celebrating the surveys which place Kamala Harris slightly ahead of Trump, nationwide. According to Axelrod, even though Harris has improved the Democrats’ image increasingly over the past few weeks, through her campaign, a lot of work still remains to be done, as the party is still reeling from Joe Biden’s sudden exit from the Presidential poll race, as well as the dismal Presidential Debate, which was single-handedly dominated by Donald Trump.
